The Citroën 2CV is one of the most iconic economy cars ever produced, developed by Citroën and launched in 1948 as a simple, lightweight vehicle designed to motorize rural France. Its engineering philosophy focused on extreme simplicity, low running costs, and rugged durability, making it accessible to a wide range of drivers across post-war Europe.

Although not designed as a competition car, the 2CV gained a cult following in grassroots motorsport, most famously in endurance-style amateur events such as the 24-hour 2CV racing series and rally raid competitions. Its simplicity and mechanical toughness made it surprisingly resilient in long-distance and off-road challenges.

This model of the 2CV served as James Bond's emergency escape vehicle after the Lotus Esprit self-destructed in the 1981 film For Your Eyes Only. It even comes with bullet holes to recreate the chase scene.
