In 1970, Porsche and the JWAE Gulf team used the MIRA (Motor Industry Research Association) proving ground to conduct private aerodynamic and suspension trials on a specifically modified Porsche 917K. These tests aimed to improve the car’s high-speed stability and handling, which were early weaknesses of the car.
